UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has congratulated

Nigeria on the largely peaceful and orderly conduct of

presidential and parliamentary elections.

Ban, in a statement issued on Saturday night in New York, encouraged all Nigerians to continue to maintain

the peace and to exercise patience throughout the

ongoing voting process and the announcement of the

final results.

He condemned the attacks reportedly carried out by Boko Haram in some parts of the country and attempts

by hoodlums to disrupt polling in some areas.

The UN Chief said that he was encouraged by the determination and resilience shown by Nigerians in pressing forward and exercising their civic duties.

The Secretary-General called on all actors to channel any complaints that might arise from the elections

through the established dispute resolution

mechanisms.

The Secretary-General said he believed that thesuccessful conclusion of the electoral process would

mark an important step forward in further consolidating democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria.

has shed new light on the

song “O Praise the Name” in

a video posted to the band’s

website.

Ware said that songwriter Marty Sampson told him to

sing the line “I cast my mind to Calvary,” as if Jesus

was in front of him. This helped him reflect on the

meaning of Easter and changed the way he thought

about Jesus’ resurrection.

Ware said, “As I began to envision the hill of Calvary, I

imagined what it would have been like to actually be

there on that day, looking up at my Saviour hanging on

that tree, the Messiah, full of love for me, as He

breathed His last.”

The singer hopes that listeners will hear the song in the

same way and take time to reflect on Jesus’ death and

resurrection.

Ware also said that Easter is a special time of year

because Christians and non-Christians focus on Jesus,

discussing "who He was or wasn't, what He did or

didn't do, the life He lived, His death, His resurrection

and all that happened after.”

Evangelist Benny Hinn has been released from the hospital one week after being admitted for heart problems related to atrial fibrillation.

Hinn, 62 was cleared to go

home late Friday night. He expressed deep gratitude to his doctors, family,

and supporters around world for his medical care and the prayer on his

behalf.

"I've seen the hand of God at work, both through prayer and the

physicians," Hinn said. "God is faithful. My heart is strong. I have no heart

damage. My arteries are not blocked. There is no arterial damage."

POPE FRANCIS EXPRESSES CONCERN FOR VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE IN NIGERIA AND IRAQ.

Pope Francis has expressed his concern

for Christian families and other victims of violence who

have been expelled from their homes and villages in Iraq.

A statement issued Friday by the Holy See’s Press Office

says the Pope is particularly concerned about those from

Mosul and the Nineveh Plains, many of whom have found

refuge in Iraqi Kurdistan. The press statement further says

the Holy Father is praying for the victims and hopes that

they will soon be able to return to their former lives in

their homeland where for centuries they have lived in good

relations with their neighbours.

In this coming Holy Week these families particularly share

in the injustice and sufferings of Christ, and as a sign of

unity, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the

Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, will return

to Iraq to be with the expelled families and to pray with

them during this time of suffering.

Special Easter collection for Iraq's displaced Christians

The Diocese of Rome will be taking up a special collection

in parishes, and in a sign of solidarity, will be sending

traditional Italian cakes to the persecuted families of Iraq

so that they may be able to share in the joy of Easter.

The statement ends by saying that Holy Father would also

like to express his closeness to suffering families in

northern NIGERIA. The Holy Father has also asked the

local Episcopal Conference to join with him in extending a

similar sign of solidarity with those families.

The Nigerian army says it has retaken the north-eastern

town of Gwoza, believed to be the headquarters of

militant Islamist group Boko Haram.

The insurgents had now been driven from virtually all the

territory they had held, it said.

Some militants were now fleeing towards border areas, the

military said.

News of Gwoza's recapture comes a day before

presidential elections, which were postponed by six weeks

because of the offensive against Boko Haram.

The town,

which was captured by the Boko Haram

insurgents last year and converted into their

caliphate, served as the last vestige of the

terrorists’ stronghold after all the other

captured towns in Borno, Yobe and

Adamawa states were retaken.

THE WORLD BIGGEST MEGA CHURCH.

The subway preachers and door-knockers must be

doing a reasonable trade though because the world’s

biggest megachurch is the Yoido Full Gospel Church in

Seoul. Boasting around one million members, this

congregation dwarfs anything in the United States. It

seats 26,000 people (plus the thousands who watch

the services on giant screens from neighbouring

buildings) and the church’s seven Sunday services

claim to attract over 250,000 people weekly.

Amazingly, this church held its first service less than 60 years ago (May, 1958) in the loungeroom of one of

its two original pastors. The service was attended by

four people – three were the daughters of one of the

pastors, plus one passing woman who came in seeking

shelter from the rain.

Through tireless door-knocking and public service, the

church slowly began to grow. Soon a tent was erected

to accommodate the congregation. Then bigger tents.

Then a building was required. By 1977, almost 20

years after the first service, the church had 50,000

members. Then the congregation exploded. The Yoido

Full Gospel Church has since acquired, on average,

just over 500 new members each week… for the last

36 years.

A preacher from Inyi Nigeria, Bishop
Harford Anayo Iloputaife was born on the
12 of February 1959 in Lagos Nigeria.
He was the sixth child of Capt. H. A.
Iloputaife, MBE, NAEC, who was the
grandson of Maduekesi (Madu) King of
Inyi at the time the British invaded that
land in the 19 Century.

On his maternal
side his grandfather John Anyaji a fervent
preacher and renown healer was first to
introduce Christianity to the people of Inyi
from Ogidi where he had gone to
apprentice as a lumberjack (sawyer).
Bishop Iloputaife was called to the
Christian ministry when in 1980, at the
invitation of his mother Jessie Iloputaife
(nee Anyaji,) he joined her at YWAM
(Youth with a Mission) at the University
of the Nations in Hawaii USA.

From Hawaii he accepted an invitation to
preach in Canada. A few months later
Anayo Iloputaife returned to Nigeria to
minister at the Holy Church of God in
Christ, a church founded by his mother on
Badagry Express road, Oluti Lagos Nigeria.

In 1985 Anayo decided to start his own
ministry which he named Victory
Christian Church. Together with the
students at his Bible Faith Training Center
he went around buses and other public
places winning souls for Christ.

By 1991when Harford Anayochuku Iloputaife wasconsecrated Bishop under the umbrella of
the Pentecostal faith, his Victory Christian
Church then situated near Satellite Town
Lagos, boasted a membership of over ten
thousand. As a Bishop he had pastors in
more than 20 cities such as Awka,
Ughelli and Ojo in Nigeria who came
under the auspices of Victory Christian
Church.
His method of ministry included
televangelism through which he preached
the gospel to Nigerian audiences over the
Victory Television Broadcast. Through his
Faith Revival Ministries World Outreach
he traveled the world preaching the
gospel wherever he was invited. Bishop
Iloputaife published several books and
recordings; the most popular of which is
Dynamics of Biblical Prosperity by Bishop
Harford Anayo Iloputaife.

An ardent preacher, counselor and healer
who spoke out against the ills of society
and callous neglect of the suffering poor
by the government of his day, Bishop
Iloputaife escaped several attempts on his
life by armed assassins.

Finally, on thatfaithful night of the 4 of February 1995,
he was shot at very close range by
assassins who followed him home from
where he went to pick up his mother on
her arrival from the United States to join
him in the celebration of the
10 anniversary of the founding of
Victory Christian Church. Five days later
on the 9 of February 1995, Bishop
Harford Anayochuku Iloputaife passed
away.
Nkechi Iloputaife is now the presiding Bishop of the Victory
Christian Centre, after the demise of
her husband, Anayo Iloputaife.
