It’s like something out of a film – a boy from east London grows up to become a famous actor and meets royalty.
But for Chiwetel Ejiofor, who grew up in Forest Gate, that’s reality.
The 38-year-old was made a
CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to the arts.
Prince William presented him with his medal yesterday at Buckingham Palace.
Although he was made an OBE in the 2008 Queen’s Birthday Honours, Chiwetel’s status as an actor was elevated when he played Solomon Northup in 2013 film 12 Years A Slave, winning a BAFTA for his performance.
