Hillary Clinton said in a recent speech that religion should change to accept
abortion.
Speaking at the Women in the World Summit, Clinton lamented
that too
few women are able to access safe abortion facilities.
“Far too many women are still denied critical access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth,” Clinton
said. “All the laws we’ve passed don’t count for much if they’re not enforced.”
She continued that American culture, including religion needs to change for abortion reform to take place.
“Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper,”
she said. “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes,
religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”
Clinton’s words received backlash from several prolife and Christian leaders worldwide.
