50 Cent to Studio 5: 'Killing Police Officers is the Wrong Idea'

xecutive producer and rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, poses on the red carpet at the season 3 premiere of the Starz network show 'Power' in New York City.

Singer Alicia Keys recently called on a few famous friends to create a compelling video that describes "23 ways you could be killed if you are black in America."
Beyoncé, Bono, Rihanna, Taraji P. Henson and Chris Rock are among celebrities whose voices are heard.
Beyond those powerful voices, there is a growing chorus to end the senseless bloodshed. Rapper and actor Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson added his voice to that choir in an interview with Studio 5.
"I have been really, really quiet about it," said Jackson, who is in the middle of
promoting the third season of his Starz original series "Power."
"This is the first time that I am actually saying something about it. Well, I have been quiet because I didn't have a solution for it. I think the system that we have in place doesn't work without good people. So, I think some of the people that are protesting that are really passionate about it should actually become police officers."
"So the idea of killing police officers is the wrong idea," he said. "And they should actually become a part of the solution by being good police officers."
Jackson's call for protestors to join the police force comes after the ambush shootings of six officers in Baton Rouge Sunday and a dozen officers in Dallas a week ago.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown issued a similar call at a news conference, following the deaths of the officers on his force.
"We're hiring," Brown announced.
He went on to say, "Get out that protest line and put in an application. We'll put you in your neighborhood and help you resolve some of those problems."
