MY MUM WANTS ME TO MARRY A MAN AS OLD AS MY LATE FATHER.

Message from a CIB reader:
MY MUM WANTS ME TO MARRY A MAN AS OLD AS MY LATE FATHER.
My mum recently introduced a man to me who is obviously as old as my late dad, if not older. Prior to that time, she's been telling me that theres a man who wants to seek my hand in marriage. Lo and behold, that faithful day I was shocked beyond belief at this elderly man who by all good intentions and purposes wants to marry me???
I love my mum, but does she really mean well? WHAT DO I DO?

34,000 Churches Break Ties with PCUSA over Same-Sex Marriage Approval.

34,000 Churches Break Ties with
PCUSA over Same-Sex Marriage Approval.

A coalition of 34,000
churches has decided to cut
ties with the Presbyterian
Church USA (PCUSA) after
the denomination voted to
change the definition of
marriage to include same-sex marriage in its
constitution.
Charisma News reports the National Black Church
Initiative (NBCI) includes 15 denominations and 15.7
million church members. The group announced that it
will no longer associate itself with the Presbyterian
Church, citing PCUSA’s “sin against the entire church
and its members” by accepting homosexuality.
NBCI president Rev. Anthony Evans said, “NBCI and
its membership base are simply standing on the Word
of God within the mind of Christ. We urge our brother
and sisters of the PCUSA to repent and be restored to
fellowship."
Evans also warned that that PCUSA is preaching a
false gospel.
"Apostle Paul warns us about this when he declared in
Galatians 1:8 that there are those who will preach
another gospel.
"For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom
we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit,
which ye have not received, or another gospel, which
ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him...
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers,
transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an
angel of light.”
The coalition president called other Christians to follow
the lead of NBCI and break ties with PCUSA.
"In this case, PCUSA deliberately voted to change the
Word of God and the interpretation of holy marriage
between one man and one woman. This is why we
must break fellowship with them and urge the entire
Christendom to do so as well,” he said.

BENNY HINN'S SHOW OF APPRECIATION

BENNY HINN'S SHOW OF APPRECIATION
One week to the day after beginning admitted to the medical center in Orange County to treat Atrial Fibrillation, the doctors were assuring me of a speedy and complete recovery, and I was able to come home. To Jesus be the praise!
I am so grateful for the prayers of well-known leaders, my family, partners, and staff members from around the world, as well as for the care I received from one of the world’s leading cardiologists and medical teams.
Through all of this, I’ve seen the hand of God at work, both through prayer and the physicians. God is faithful!
My heart is strong. I have no heart damage. My arteries are not blocked. There is no arterial damage. The AFib is being treated effectively, and my rapid heart rate has reduced considerably. I’m feeling stronger every day.
I’ve been literally overwhelmed with all the outpouring of love from around the globe. People around the world began praying very quickly after I was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, and fluid in my lungs. Shortly after I arrived at the center, dear friends such as Reinhard Bonnke and Kenneth Copeland flew here to pray over me.
As the news spread, leaders such as Dr. Pat Robertson, Morris Cerullo, Tommy Barnett, Jack Hayford, Jan Crouch, Rod Parsley, Pastors Dennis and Eunice John, and Steve Munsey sent and phoned such warm greetings and kind words. Dr. Paul Dhinakaran from India, who has prayer centers around the world, called to let us know that all of his people were interceding for me. There are so many more than I can’t name them all
What has happened is truly a wonderful outpouring of love and support. It has been a literal flood of tributes, well-wishes, and expressions of love that have touched my heart deeply.
And I can assure you that the work of the Gospel continues. Plans for upcoming Miracle Healing Services are going forward and advance preparations are continuing. This Is Your Day broadcasts keep on touching hearts throughout 200 countries, and our mission outreaches continue.
I am more convinced than ever by God Almighty that our greatest days of evangelism are just ahead, and I will not back away from what God has called me to do as long as there is breath in my body!
Doors are opening all around the globe. Millions, even billions, are waiting to hear the Gospel, many for the first time.
I’m continuing to make plans now for upcoming meetings in such places as East London, Johannesburg, Limpopo, Secunda, and Durban, South Africa. After that, I will be traveling to New York, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, and more—as God gives me strength.
Now is the time, for our greatest days are ahead. The future is so much greater than the past, and our destiny—together—is more exciting than anything we’ve experienced!
Thank you again for your prayers and all you have done for our precious Lord Jesus to help me take the Gospel around the world.

A MESSAGE FOR JONATHAN AND BUHARI TO ACCEPT THE RESULT OF THE POLLS WITH EQUANIMITY.

A MESSAGE FOR JONATHAN AND BUHARI TO ACCEPT THE RESULT OF THE POLLS WITH EQUANIMITY.

Rev. Chris Okotie on the 29th of March dropped a message, titled,
A Message for Jonathan and Buhari, that the two political gladiators should accept the verdict with equanimity.
The admonition becomes imperative as the
paradox of the structure of our politicking
continues to baffle even the most optimistic
watchers of events. This troubling trajectory means
that the events of the days following the March 28
elections may be critical as we still have another round of voting on April 11, 2015. The heated campaigns have been worrisome to observers and we hope this process ends well.
With hindsight, we can say that our politician’s inability to resolve intra and inter party conflicts amicably is a serious flaw in our nascent democracy. The cheerleaders in this cesspit of murky politicking are the beneficiaries and cronies
of politicians who have benefits at stake in this degenerate style of partisan politics.
Also, aside this media gibberish that marked these
campaigns, the dangerous trend of unruliness
which the rampaging foot-soldiers and campaign
trains have subjected the same electorate they are
courting to, is in itself a show of absolute
disregard for the people; Nigerians went through
temporary lull in economic activities because of these elections, and one can only hope that
whatever losses they have suffered is worth it at the end of the day.

Despite the ominous picture which these
campaigns painted in the minds of the electorate
these past weeks, voters must be wise and not be
swayed by the ethnic and religious sentiments
which have been some of the underlying emotions
that the devisors of these calumny campaigns have
adopted, as we go for the next round of voting.
Section 102 of the Electoral Act 2010 (As
Amended) prohibits the employment of base
sentiments as campaign or broadcasting tools.
Yet, it is ironic that despite this law, in full glare of
the Independent National Electoral Commission,
INEC, and the law various enforcement agencies,
sectional and faceless support groups have openly
deployed these emotions in their campaigns.

A critical question in this vicious circle is this: Can our aspiring leaders who emerge out of the
rummages of these elections stand shoulder-to-
shoulder with their counterparts around the world
with their uninspiring display of primitive politics?
The answer is no!
After 16 years of a chequered and stagnant
democratic run, what we need now is not a
cunning sleigh of hands in relying on specious
sentiments; to upstage opponents, rather, we need
to be won-over with outlines and timelines of
realistic re-structuring agenda on issues that
affront the progress of our economy.
Okotie reminds us: “Politicians seeking elective
offices are being asked questions about their
record of public service; about their integrity;
about their competence or lack thereof. It is a
whole new ball game; a far cry from some previous
elections when the outcomes were generally well
known before the ballot was cast… We must see
impact-driven growth and the evidence of our
rising economic profile on our citizens. What we
demand from our politicians is how to revamp the
economy to achieve a strong, private sector-led
growth; not how they would tear the nation apart if
the elections don’t go their way”.
The Pastor-Politician rounded-up his message
brilliantly: “Millions are going to vote because they
want their lives changed or transformed, not
because they expect to die in the exercise… Every Nigerian must therefore hear this loud and clear:
go out and vote; and equally important, respect the outcome. Let the politicians receive this with
equanimity and philosophical discernment”.
God bless Nigeria and Nigerians so that the labour of our heroes past must never be in vain.

CHRISTIAN SONGS IN LOCAL LANGUAGES OFFENDS SOME PEOPLE

CHRISTIAN SONGS IN LOCAL LANGUAGES OFFENDS SOME PEOPLE -Chimamanda Adichie

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie had some thoughts on going to church & Christian songs in local languages.

"Going to church? It was something you didn’t question.
When I go back to Nigeria it strikes me how on Sunday people will say, “Have you been to
church?” It’s expected, and they say it matter-of-factly. They’re saying it because they want to
make sure. They’ll ask, “Will you come out to dinner with us? Have you gone to church, by the
way?” Because if you haven’t gone to church then you can’t come to dinner. The option of not going to church doesn’t occur to people, and it
doesn’t matter what denomination.
As I was growing up, we went to church every Sunday. I was drawn to religion, but I was the
kid who just wouldn’t shut up. I had questions. Everybody else went to church and came home."

"Christianity includes ideas that are cultural rather than religious, and these ideas have been
absorbed into African Christianity. This is changing, of course, but even the idea of singing
Christian songs in local languages offends some people. I recently heard about a woman who was
horrified because she didn’t want Igbo carols at Christmas. Only the English ones were real
Christmas carols to her. But even so, the idea of Christianity as a triumph of colonialism might be
too simplistic..."

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie grew up in Nigeria . Her work has been
translated into thirty languages and has appeared in various publications ,
including The New Yorker , Granta , The O . Henry Prize Stories, the
Financial Times , and Zoetrope . She is the author of the novels Purple
Hibiscus, which won the Commonwealth Writers ’ Prize and the Hurston /
Wright Legacy Award, and Half of a Yellow Sun , which won the Orange
Prize and was a National Book Critics Circle Award Finalist , a New York
Times Notable Book , and a People and Black Issues Book Review Best
Book of the Year ; and the story collection The Thing Around Your Neck .
Her latest novel Americanah , was published around the world in 2013 ,
and has received numerous accolades , including winning the National
Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction and The Chicago Tribune Heartland
Prize for Fiction; and being named one of The New York Times Ten Best
Books of the Year.

DR UMA UKPAI SPEAKS ON "PASTORS THAT ARE POOR" & "THE GENERAL ELECTIONS"

DR UMA UKPAI SPEAKS ON "PASTORS THAT ARE POOR" & "THE GENERAL ELECTIONS"

Dr Uma Ukpai, the president and founder of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has said recently that poor men of God did not receive divine calling.

He also said that it was untrue that people resorted to Church establishment out of joblessness.

According to Ukpai, “Jesus calls church business. He said, ‘I am about my father’s business’. He called church work business and what is business? Business is investment plus gain, minus loss. In church planting, no pastor can collect offering without giving account and survive. Every church has elders and the job of the elders is to make sure that account is given; it is not even publicly but given internally but the account must be given.

“Church is all about investment and the gain they make is not in money but in people; that is the gain they make. People also can be called money because for instance, if a pastor’s ministry can cause 20 women to get pregnant; those women will not forget the pastor. If a pastor’s ministry can produce one of the richest 10 men in the country, those men will not forget the man who made them what they are.

“When you are into ministry and you have what we call anointing, you have become profitable; you begin to touch lives; you begin to bless people; you begin to change the stories of families and your own story will change also because the man that waters others shall be watered by God. There is so much misinformation about the church. It is not all about money. If your pastor has anointing that can make the blind see, cripples walk, leprosy to disappear, that pastor is in money.

“The only man you can worry about is a man who has no anointing; a man who God has rejected; a pastor who God has not approved what he is doing. God does not bless what he does not approve. If God approves what a pastor is doing, he will have more money than he can spend. I am an example.”

On the general elections vis-a-vis the challenges of Boko Haram insurgency, Ukpai said the crisis was part of Nigerian culture.

“There is nothing new happening. We are used to fighting; we are used to killing and duping one another. People try to magnify little problems here and there as things that can overwhelm or swallow Nigeria. Let me tell you, we shall still be here after 2015. All these problems are old problems. Nobody has been able to manufacture new ones.

“Even APC (All Progressives Congress) or PDP (Peoples Democratic Party), they have not been able to manufacture new problems. So, this country will still be here after 2015. All those stupid prophecies are from uninformed prophets, who have neither heard from nor seen God. Take it from me that this country will still be here and intact after 2015″.

Commenting on attacks on Christians in some parts of the country, Ukpai said persecution had been part of the Christian calling.

Quoting from the Holy Book, Ukpai pointed out that “The Bible promised us persecution; it did not say we shall not be persecuted. Secondly, persecution sharpens us and makes us pray better. I would rather have Christians persecuted than Christians not persecuted, because the more you persecute Christians, the more they will pray; the more they will seek after God. Those who seek after God shall know their God and those who know their God shall do exploit. So, in the attempt to harm us, they are sharpening us for a better and greater day.”

Ukpai, however, appealed to politicians and other well-meaning Nigerians to work towards the peace, unity and prosperity of the country.

His words: “We are praying for politics with principles; we are praying for politicians who have prepared themselves to serve and not to lord over us; and we are looking for politicians who are accountable to us and to themselves. But most importantly, we are asking for electorate who would not ask for bribes. Let nobody collect money to vote. If you collect money to vote, you have destroyed your moral right to account from the elected officers.

“We want our politicians to know that we cannot continue to run in circle; let them show some level of maturity. Finally, every politician must respect the sacredness of human beings. Let nobody be killed because of another person’s ambition. When anybody is killed, he cannot be reproduced and because we didn’t create anybody, we don’t have the right to kill anybody. So, can our politicians try to show good measure of maturity and intelligence, fear of God and preparedness to obey the laws of the land? They behave as though there are no laws. There are laws and we must obey those laws; that is what will help us move forward and move in a manner that will bring reward.
